Pawan Kalyan Vows Zero Tolerance on Crime, Warns YCP in Strongest Terms
Deputy Chief Minister and Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan on Saturday declared that maintaining law and order is the topmost priority of the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh and asserted that criminals will receive no protection based on caste, religion, or region.Addressing the 'Mana Ooru - Maata Manthri' programme in Kakinada, Pawan Kalyan launched a scathing attack on the previous YSRCP regime, accusing it of systematically weakening institutions and patronising criminal elements over the past five years. He issued a stern public warning to YCP-affiliated rowdy elements.

“To every YCP goon who is boasting that they will create bloodshed and chop people, I am telling you in front of the camera — your mad acts will not work with us. Governments come and go, but the ultimate power lies with the people. Even if your government returns, I will crush you. Keep that in mind,” Pawan Kalyan warned.

He added that officials still showing loyalty to the previous dispensation would be closely monitored. The Deputy CM emphasised that he entered politics to strengthen democracy and not for power or positions. He said that after assuming charge in Kakinada, he did not interfere in the appointment of SP or Collector and assured them that not a single phone call would come from him interfering in their duties.Pawan Kalyan made it clear that no one from his party would be spared if found guilty of crimes. “I am not the person who will go to jail and congratulate an MLA who kills his driver. I am not the leader who will defend a person with 23 criminal cases as a ‘child’,” he said in an apparent reference to recent incidents.

Caste Politics and Law & Order

The Deputy CM strongly criticised the practice of providing “caste colour” to criminals for political benefit. “Andhra Pradesh will not progress until we get rid of this ‘caste curse’. A criminal has no caste. A rapist or a looter has no caste. Defending such people only reveals one’s own character,” he said.

He cited the murder of a Dalit driver by an MLA and questioned how it could be linked to an entire community. Pawan Kalyan also mentioned the Sugali Preethi and Vivekananda Reddy murder cases, alleging that the previous government destroyed evidence, making it difficult to punish the guilty.

On the SC/ST Atrocities Act, he said genuine cases would be dealt with firmly, but fake cases filed for political gains would be equally strongly opposed. He appealed to leaders of his own alliance not to encourage misuse of the law.

Call for Civil Society Participation

Pawan Kalyan stressed that strong law and order is essential for attracting investments, industries, and employment. He urged citizens to form local groups and Citizen Councils to protect peace in their areas and asked Janasena MLAs and MPs to raise their voice on law and order issues at the grassroots level.

He concluded by saying that systemic failures should not push even minor issues to the Deputy CM’s desk and reiterated his commitment to restoring the rule of law in the state.
