New Rs 100 notes with extra security feature

Mumbai, June 26: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released new Currency notes of Rs 100 denominations with an additional security feature. The new currency notes of Mahatma Gandhi 2005 series will have a new numbering pattern, RBI said on Friday. The size of the numerals in both the number panels on the currency note will increase from left to right. While the size of the first three alpha numeric characters will remain the same. This striking feature, which easily catches the eye, will help the public to identify real and fake currency notes. Except the numbering pattern, all the remaining features of Mahatma Gandhi 2005 series will remain the same, RBI said. Also, the currency notes released earlier with this series will continue legally. The RBI further said that the new numbering pattern will be introduced on other currency notes of various denominations, in a phased manner.
