High Court moved to implement section 8

Hyderabad, June 25: Amidst protests on the implementation of Section 8 in Hyderabad, a petition was filed in High Court on Thursday requesting the implementation of Section 8. Andhra Pradesh Secretariat Gazetted Officers' Association leader Krishnaiah filed the petition. Attorny General Mukul Rohatgi adviced the invocation of Section 8 of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act in the wake of AP Chief Minister Chandrdababu Naidu's petition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking the Governor to implement Section 8 of the Act. The implementation of this Act will empower the Governor to assume law and order powers in Hyderabad, the common capital of both Telugu speaking states. While Naidu has been demanding the Governor to take over law and order in Hyderabad, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is fighting against it, by saying Hyderabad is an integral part of Telangana State.
