Thailand, Hong Kong, UAE and Indonesia secure Women's Asia Cup berth

New Delhi, June 11 : Thailand, Hong Kong, the UAE and Indonesia confirmed their places in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup later this year after registering comfortable victories in the quarter-finals of the ACC Women’s Premier Cup on Thursday.

All four teams had topped their respective groups during the league stage and carried that momentum into the knockout rounds, producing commanding performances to book both semi-final berths and qualification for the continental tournament.

Thailand continued their unbeaten run with a convincing 56-run victory over Nepal in Kuala Lumpur. Wicketkeeper-batter Nannapat Koncharoenkai starred with a composed 62 as Thailand posted 130 for 4. Their bowlers then took control, restricting Nepal to 74 for 7 to seal a one-sided win, according to ESPNCricinfo.

The UAE also enjoyed a comfortable outing against hosts Malaysia. Powered by an unbeaten 65 from Theertha Satish, the UAE amassed 138 for 2 before their bowlers limited Malaysia to 86 for 5, securing a 52-run triumph.

In Bangi, Hong Kong overcame Japan by 41 runs thanks to an all-round display. Yasmin Daswani anchored the innings with an unbeaten 55 off just 36 deliveries, while Maryam Bibi (3/17) and Marina Lamplough (2/11) played key roles in dismantling Japan’s chase.

The most emphatic result of the day came from Indonesia, who overwhelmed Oman by 113 runs. Captain Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini led from the front with 51 to help Indonesia reach 137 for 7. Oman never recovered in reply and were bowled out for just 24 in 11.5 overs, with Ni Made Putri Suwandewi claiming impressive figures of 4 for 11.

The semi-finals will see Thailand face Indonesia, while Hong Kong take on the UAE in Kuala Lumpur on Friday. Although the participating teams have now been confirmed, the schedule for the Women’s T20 Asia Cup is yet to be announced.
