Suryapet woman gives away new born girl unable to pay hospital bills

Hyderabad, June 24: Not able to pay the hospital bill after delivering her third girl child, a mother in Suryapet in Telangana gave away her new born to the employees of the private hospital, shocking reports said. Some employees of the private hospital, acting as middlemen, are reported to have sold the 13-day-old girl child to a childless couple, who hail from Chhattiasgarh, three days ago, reports said. News of the transaction surfaced on Tuesday night after the parents of the new born girl contacted the hospital management requesting them to return their baby. The baby's parents even brought Rs. 25,000 to clear the hospital dues and take back their baby. However, the hsopital told them that their baby girl was sold to a childless couple hailing from Chhattisgarh. The shocked couple then demanded the hospital to return their girl child. Meanwhile, the Women Development and Child Welfare Department officials and Police began investigations into the incident. The couple were labourers belonging to Imampet area on the outskirts of Suryapet. They had come to hospital 16 days ago for delivery.
