63 kg gold seized at Vizag airport

Visakhapatnam, June 22: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 63 kg gold at Visakhapatnam International airport today. Sources said that officials took 56 persons into custody for questioning. The accused has hidden gold in DVD players, microwave ovens and other electronic goods. The suspects arrived in the airport from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. The arrested hail from Tamil Nadu. It is the third gold seizure in the airport in a month. Few days ago officials seized 12 kg gold at airport. According to sources, the smugglers shifted their activities to Visakhapatnam airport as security was tightened at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad.
