AP Secretariat gets Rs 22 crore tax notice

Hyderabad, June 18: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has issued Rs 22 crore tax notice to Andhra Pradesh Secretariat in Hyderabad today. Sources said that Andhra Pradesh authorities were asked to pay the tax dues immediately. AP officials on earlier occasions claimed that the buildings used by them in Hyderabad are owned by Telangana government and insisted that they will not pay taxes for using the buildings. The notice came as surprise at a time when the AP and Telangana governments have been locked in an unseemly war of words over allegations of phone tapping. It may be noted that Andhra Pradesh Labour Minister Atchannaidu alleged that Telangana government denied permission to their Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to construct house in Hyderabad. He said that GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar was acting on behalf of the TRS party.
