Heavy rains in AP, TS over next 24 hours

Hyderabad, June 18: The India Meteorological Department on Thursday predicted heavy rainfall is expected at many places across AP and Telangana in the next 24 hours under the influence of a low pressure area formed over west central Bay of Bengal off the coast of north Andhra. Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in some places. Heavy rains in several parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the last few days have raised the hopes of farmers, who otherwise feared prolonged drought due to possible El Nino effect. The rains brought in surplus inflows into village tanks and set off agricultural operations across the two Telugu states. 11.6 cm rainfall was recorded in Guntur while continous rains were lashing AP capital Amaravati since Wednesday night. While Hyderabad, West Godavadri districts experienced light to moderate rains.
