Special lane for text walkers
London, June 15: Talking on the phone while walking is dangerous. Texting is even more dangerous. Hundreds of people are reportedly losing lives while texting or talking over phone.
To avoid this, a smartphone store in Antwerp city on Belgium's River Scheldt had introduced 'Text Walking Lane' for those who text messages while walking. This was done keeping in view of the increasing number of accidents and also to avoid disruption for other pedestrians.
These text walking lanes are marked with the signage in white paint. Though these lanes were initially mentioned as temporary, the officials are thinking of making them permanent.
But this is not a new concept. China and Washington have already introduced this special lane for texting lovers, almost two years ago.
