Abhishek Sharma Blasts 135* as Sunrisers Hyderabad Thrash Delhi Capitals by 47 Runs in IPL 2026
Sunrisers Hyderabad delivered a commanding performance with both bat and ball to register a convincing 47-run victory over Delhi Capitals in the 31st match of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Tuesday.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Delhi Capitals were put under immense pressure as SRH openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head got off to a flying start. Abhishek Sharma remained unbeaten on a breathtaking 135 off just 68 balls, smashing 10 fours and 10 sixes at a strike rate of 198.53. His explosive knock formed the backbone of SRH’s imposing total of 242 for 2 in 20 overs.
Travis Head contributed 37 off 26 balls before falling to Axar Patel, while Ishan Kishan (25) and Heinrich Klaasen (37* off 13) provided explosive cameos in the death overs. Klaasen’s blistering 284.53 strike rate further dented DC’s bowling attack.
In reply, Delhi Capitals started aggressively but suffered regular setbacks. Nitish Rana top-scored with a quickfire 57 off 30 balls, while Sameer Rizvi made 41. However, SRH’s bowling unit, led by Eshan Malinga, who claimed impressive figures of 4 for 32, and Harsh Dubey with 3 for 12, restricted DC to 195 for 9 in 20 overs.
Eshan Malinga triggered a middle-order collapse by dismissing key batters including David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, and Ashutosh Sharma in quick succession. Harsh Dubey effectively cleaned up the tail, ensuring SRH secured a comfortable victory.
With this win, Sunrisers Hyderabad improved their position in the IPL 2026 points table, moving to 8 points from 7 matches with a healthy Net Run Rate of 0.820.
The match showcased SRH’s batting firepower and disciplined bowling, making them one of the strong contenders in the ongoing IPL 2026 season.
