Delhi’s Tree Ambulance service evokes good response
Delhi, June 14: The Tree Ambulance service of Delhi government is evoking good response. Each ambulance costs about Rs 14 lakh and it is equipped with water tanks, tree washers, chain saws, sprayers, pruners, pesticides, manure and other equipment. The service was started in the year 2010. The ambulance crew were trained at the Forest Institute of India in Dehradun. The crew treats diseased trees and performs surgeries apart from regular inspection and pruning. There is a helpline number and an e-mail address where citizens can call to inform about uprooted trees and ailing trees in their vicinity. The crew members also plant saplings and they are busy during monsoons. The ambulance personnel also clear uprooted trees and ensure smooth flow of traffic.
