Punjab Kings Cruise to Easy Victory Over Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026

Punjab Kings continued their impressive run in the Indian Premier League 2026 with a convincing 7-wicket victory against Mumbai Indians in the 24th match at the Wankhede Stadium here on Thursday.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Punjab Kings restricted Mumbai Indians to 195/6 in 20 overs. Quinton de Kock played a sensational unbeaten knock of 112 off just 60 balls, studded with 8 fours and 7 sixes, while Naman Dhir provided good support with a quick 50 off 31 balls. However, the rest of the MI batting lineup struggled against a disciplined PBKS bowling attack.

Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers for Punjab Kings, claiming impressive figures of 3/22 in 4 overs, including the crucial wickets of Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav in successive deliveries. Marco Jansen and Shashank Singh picked up one wicket each.

In reply, Punjab Kings chased down the target of 196 with ease, reaching 198/3 in just 16.3 overs. Opener Prabhsimran Singh remained unbeaten on a blistering 80 off 39 balls (11 fours, 2 sixes), while captain Shreyas Iyer smashed 66 off 35 balls. The duo added 139 runs for the third wicket, virtually sealing the game.

AM Ghazanfar was the most successful bowler for Mumbai Indians, taking 2 wickets for 31 runs, but the home side’s bowlers were largely unable to contain the aggressive PBKS batting.

With this win, Punjab Kings strengthened their position at the top of the points table with 9 points from 5 matches (4 wins, 1 no-result), boasting a healthy Net Run Rate of 1.067.

The victory also highlighted Punjab’s strong form this season, having now won four of their five completed matches.
