Sunrisers Hyderabad Thrash Kolkata Knight Riders by 65 Runs

Sunrisers Hyderabad delivered a clinical all-round performance to defeat Kolkata Knight Riders by a convincing 65 runs in the 6th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the iconic Eden Gardens on Thursday.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, KKR were put under immediate pressure by SRH’s explosive opening pair. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma tore into the KKR bowling attack, racing to 82 runs in just 5.4 overs. Abhishek Sharma smashed 48 off 21 balls, while Travis Head contributed a quickfire 46 off 21 deliveries.

Heinrich Klaasen then took center stage, scoring a crucial 52 off 35 balls to help SRH post a daunting total of 226 for 8 in 20 overs. Blessing Muzarabani was the pick of the bowlers for KKR, claiming an impressive 4 wickets for 41 runs in his 4 overs, while Vaibhav Arora picked up 2 wickets.

In reply, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a flying start with Finn Allen smashing 28 off just 7 balls, but the momentum couldn’t be sustained. Young wicket-keeper batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi played a valiant knock of 52 off 29 balls, and Rinku Singh contributed 35 off 25, but regular fall of wickets derailed their chase.

Jaydev Unadkat was the star performer with the ball for SRH, taking 3 wickets for 21 runs in 3 overs. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Eshan Malinga chipped in with 2 wickets each as KKR were bundled out for 161 in just 16 overs.

The victory gives Sunrisers Hyderabad an early boost in the points table, showcasing their strong batting depth and effective death bowling. KKR, on the other hand, will need to regroup quickly after this disappointing batting collapse at home.
