The Indian women's cricket team secured a commanding 15-run victory over Sri Lanka in the fifth and final T20I at the Thiruvananthapuram Greenfield International Stadium on Tuesday, completing a comprehensive 5-0 series whitewash.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka restricted India to 175/7 in their 20 overs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur led the charge with a responsible 68 off 43 balls (9 fours, 1 six), stabilising the innings after early setbacks. She received solid support from Amanjot Kaur (21) and a late blitz from Arundhati Reddy (27* off 11 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six), which propelled the total to a challenging one.

In response, Sri Lanka got off to a poor start as captain Chamari Athapaththu fell early for just 2. However, Hasini Perera (65 off 42 balls, 8 fours, 1 six) and Imesha Dulani (50 off 39 balls, 8 fours) added 79 runs for the second wicket, keeping the visitors in the hunt with half-centuries each.The Indian bowlers struck back at crucial moments, taking regular wickets to apply pressure. 

Sri Lanka managed only 160/7 in their 20 overs. The bowling attack shared the spoils, with Deepti Sharma, Arundhati Reddy, Sneh Rana, Vaishnavi Sharma, Shree Charani, and Amanjot Kaur each picking up a wicket. Deepti Sharma's performance also saw her become the leading wicket-taker in women's T20I history.

Throughout the five-match series, India dominated proceedings, preventing Sri Lanka from registering a single win and showcasing complete authority under Harmanpreet Kaur's leadership. This clean sweep marks a strong end to 2025 for the Indian women's team.
