Heat wave claims 139, Bhupalapalli sizzles at 50 degrees
Hyderabad, May 22:At least 139 persons died during the past two days in various parts of the two Telugu states as heat wave conditions continued to fry Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Friday, reports said.
According to latest reports, Bhupalapalli in Telangana sizzled at 50 degrees Celsius, while Warangal district continued to blaze at 46 degree Celsius today.
Temperatures of over 40 degrees celcius were recorded in places like Suryapet (Nalgonda district), Palavancha (Khammam district) and Nizamabad district in Telangana and several cities and towns in Andhra Pradesh.
Hyderabad recorded a maximum of 44.3 degree Celsius, beating a five-year record, reports said.
According to weather reports, temperatures are expected to hover around 47 degree Celsius in the two states during the next two days.
The meteorological officials today urged people not to venture out of their houses, unless required.
