Today's actress are just item girls, says Dasari

Hyderabad, May 13: Making sensational comments on the present day heroines, veteran producer and director Dasari Narayana Rao said there are no heroines in the Telugu film industry now. Stating that today's heroine are only item girls and not actresses, Dasari said in the past there were actresses like Silk Smita and Disco Shanti, who were confined to performing only item songs in Telugu films. But today lead actresses themselves have turned into item girls, he said. He made these comments during a felicitation event in Hyderabad's Ravindra Bharati. Dasari also said that in the past there were one or two special item songs in the films, but today almost every song looks like a special item song. As a parting shot, Dasari said that the career span of today's actresses was just five years in comparison to actress of the yore.
