YSR Congress asks Govt to waive total DWACRA loans
Hyderabad, May 5, 2015: Pooh-poohing the reported cabinet decision of allotting Rs 4,000 crores for waiver of DWACRA loans, YSR Congress has said this is a publicity stunt and demanded the total waiver of the Women Group loans.
“The DWACRA loans stood at Rs 14,000 crore at the end of last Financial Year and the reported cabinet decision of allocating Rs 4,000 crores is ridiculous. The State has to be categorical about
it and define whether is the interest that is getting waived or a part of the total loan or is it an eyewash like the waiver of agriculture loans,” party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told
reporters here on Tuesday.
There is no official announcement on the loan waiver but it is reported in section of media as if the entire DWACRA loans are waived and this has been the game plan of Chandrababu Naidu who
has done it for agriculture loans with persisting announcement of varying figures from time to time.
While the actual loans of the Women Self Help Groups stand at Rs 14,000 crores during the previous year, it should much more than that if the penal interest is taken into account and the purpose of allocation of Rs 4,000 crores should be categorically stated, she said.
The State level Bankers’ Conference has earmarked about Rs 13,000 crores for DWACRA groups but could disburse only Rs 2,000 crores which shows the plight of the Women Groups that were deceived by Chandrababu by going back on his poll promises on the waiver.
“The State should clarify on the reports as to the amount mentioned is for the interest or a part of the liability and we demand that DWACRA loans should be waived in toto,” she said.
Instead of looking into the welfare, Women groups are being used as a shield by the sand mafia, she said and questioned the rationale behind the proposed “Nava Nirmana Deeksha” of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who has done nothing constructive during his term.
Grading ministers’ performance and the attacks on YSRCP cadre has become a yardstick for the TDP government, she said.
