TDP govt plans 6 new airports in AP
Hyderabad, May 2: In a significant development, the Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh is planning to develop six new airports in the state in addition to upgrade the existing airports in Tirupati, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada as international airports.
In this connection, the government is announced its draft civil aviation policy in Hyderabad.
As stated in the new policy, the state government plans to incentivise airlines for operating regular air services from and to these regional airports on a need basis, reports said.
In addition to the proposed airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district, the government plans to develop at least four low-cost airports in Tadepalligudem (West Godavari), Orvakallu (Kurnool), Dagadarthi (Nellore and Kuppam (Chittoor).
In addition, the government will also develop Nagarjunsagar and Donakonda airstrips.
