19-year-old engg. student dies near Mysuru; hails from Rajahmundry

Rajahmundry, May 1: A 19-year-old engineering student, who was studying second year engineering programme in Veltec Engineering College in Chennai, from Bommuru on the outskirts of Rajahmundry died yesterday evening after slipping under a waterfall close to Mysuru. His body was traced today morning. The student, named Bammerasetti Ajay Kumar, had gone on an industrial tour to Mysuru along with his friends. Yesterday afternoon, the boy and his friends left for Balmuri waterfalls near Mysuru, according to Kamini Prasad Chowdary, a friend. For some time, Ajay and his friends took bath near the water falls. However, security guards told the boy not to enter the waterfall again after sunset. However, Ajay ignored the warning and stepped under the waterfall again. But he slipped and fell down into the pond under the waterfall. B. Ramesh Kumar, TDP Bommuru unit president over phone from Mysore, said, “We got information at around 7.30 p.m. about the missing of my son and along with some friends and immediately left for Mysore. Today (Friday) morning only the body was traced and the local police handed it over to us.” Ramesh Kumar's elder son is studying in Andhra University.
