Atrocities Under the Guise of Journalism Must Be Separated: CM Revanth Reddy
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made striking remarks stating that the credibility of journalists is deteriorating just as rapidly as that of political leaders. He expressed concern that this decline stems from certain political parties establishing their own newspapers and broadcasting outlets. Speaking at the launch event of the Nava Telangana daily newspaper, Revanth Reddy asserted that it is time for genuine journalists to draw a clear line and separate those who are misusing journalism as a cover to commit atrocities.
During his address, he stated, "In the past, we held journalists in high esteem. We used to seek their advice and prepare our responses diligently. However, due to current unusual trends, that respect has eroded. Some individuals are working under the guise of social media as agents of Pakistan, posing a threat to national security." He warned that if such actions are not curtailed, they could lead to serious harm to society.
Revanth Reddy assured that his government would support newspapers that work with commitment towards public issues. He recommended that government advertisements should be given to Nava Telangana on par with commercial newspapers that publish sensational stories and gossip. He emphasized that it is the government's responsibility to balance media outlets that advocate for public welfare.
He likened the role of communists in addressing public issues to the role of salt in food: “No matter how many spices are added to a dish, it is tasteless without salt. Likewise, when the red flag raises its voice on people’s problems, only then do citizens gain confidence,” said Revanth Reddy. He also affirmed that if the government performs well, it should be acknowledged publicly, and if it makes mistakes, even if they are not whispered into its ears, it is acceptable for them to be written about in newspapers so that they can be rectified.
He expressed hope that in the future, cooperation between the Congress and the Communists would benefit the people.
