CM Ramesh elected AP Olympic Chief at rival meeting

Hyderabad, April 19, 2015: Giving a new twist to the on-going controversy surrounding the AP Olympic Association, the General Body of the Association held its meeting on Sunday in Hyderabad. The General Body has split into two resulting in the creation of AP Olympic Association and Telangana Olympic Association. After the meeting , Telangana Minister Jagadeesh Reddy has announced that the two units have elected new presidents. "While AP unit has elected CM Ramesh as its new President, Telangana unit has elected Jitender Reddy as its president," the minister told journalists. Lagadapati Rajagopal, the outgoing president of the united AP Olympic Association , has also said that today's meeting in Hyderabad was held under High Court orders. Meanwhile, Galla Jayadev, who claimed his unit was recognised as the AP Olympic Association by the Indian Olympic Association, has sent a letter to the rival meeting organisers in Hyderabad saying the meeting has no validity. On the other hand, the observers of the Indian Olympic Association too did not attend the rival meeting held in Hyderabad today.
