Power cuts break a marriage

Allahabad, April 18: When a Uttar Pradesh man refused to eat his dinner during power cuts, his 32-year-old wife walked out of her seven-year-old marriage and filed a complaint with the police. The woman, identified as Ruksana, complained the police that her husband, Qadir, had been forcing her to stay awake and serve him food after the power supply resumed. Failing which, he used to turn violent. Ruksana walked out of her house along with her three children. She then went ahead and registered an FIR against her husband in the police station. In her FIR, the woman confirmed that other family members had tried to intervene, but had failed to solve the problem.
