HC: No new construction if Chest hospital has heritage buildings

Hyderabad, April 13, 2015: The High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad on Monday directed the TS Government not to take up any new constructions in the Chest hospital complex at Erragadda in the city if the premises has any heritage buildings. Admitting a petition filed by advocate Jupudi Prabhakar, the High Court has directed the Archaeological department to inspect the hospital premises and find out if there are any heritage buildings. The petitioner has contended that the main building of the Errgadda Chest Hospital is declared heritage building by the Archaeological department and Government can not take up construction of any new buildings in the premises. The High Court made it clear that new constructions should not be taken up and all present constructions should be stopped immediately if the hospital building is found to be one of heritage. The apex court of the state deferred further hearing of the case for Thursday to give time to the Archaeological department to submit a report.
