Princess of Italy Survives Horrific Accident
Maria Carolina, a 21-year-old Italian princess, recently survived a severe motorcycle accident. The princess, who sustained serious injuries in the crash, was treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) and has since recovered. She revealed details of the incident through her official Instagram account, stating that it was fortunate she survived.
“It’s a miracle I am alive,” wrote Maria Carolina. “I lost control of the motorcycle and crashed hard into a wall. I was immediately taken to the reanimation ward of the ICU. Surviving this accident feels like a miracle.”
She also shared photos from her hospital bed and emphasized the importance of safety while riding motorcycles. “Motorcycles are powerful and exhilarating, but now I understand more than ever that they are unforgiving if mistakes are made. Please ride carefully. Always wear full protective gear, especially a proper helmet. My helmet saved my life,” said Maria Carolina.
Maria Carolina expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the medical professionals who treated her at the Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace and the emergency responders who assisted her at the accident site. “I am deeply thankful to the hospital team for their expert care during those difficult days, and to the emergency medical personnel and first responders who quickly arrived at the scene and played a vital role in saving my life,” she wrote.
A few days before the accident, the princess had attended the Grand Prix race in Monte Carlo. Earlier this week, she shared photos on Instagram featuring British Formula 1 driver Lando Norris, who secured first place this year, as well as pictures with her mother, Princess Camilla, and her sister, Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.
On May 15, Maria Carolina also attended the opening ceremony of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
Maria Carolina is the eldest daughter of Prince Carlo and Princess Camilla. She holds the titles Duchess of Calabria and of Palermo. Her younger sister, 20-year-old Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, is titled Duchess of Noto and of Capri.
