NHRC seeks report from AP on killing of 20 wood cutters
Tiruvanantapuram, April 8, 2015: Even as the former chief justice of India and Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission K.G. Balakrishnan sought a report on the encounter killing of 20 woodcutters in Seshachalam forests from the Government of AP, Chittor district Collector has ordered a magisterial probe into the encounter.
Balakrishnan told reporters here that he has asked the AP Chief Secretary IYR Krrishna Rao over the encounter in which 20 wood cutters lost their lives.
The NHRC gave two weeks time for the state government to reply to its notices.
There is a hue and cry over the reported encounter as several human rights organisations and activists described the incident as bogus.
