Boris Johnson Becomes Father to Ninth Child at Age 60

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has become a father for the ninth time at the age of 60. His wife Carrie Johnson shared the joyful news on Instagram on Saturday, revealing that their daughter was born on May 21 and has been named Poppy Eliza Josephine Johnson. This marks the fourth child for the couple.

In an emotional Instagram post, Carrie Johnson wrote, “Welcome to the world, Poppy Eliza Josephine Johnson, born on May 21. I can’t believe how beautiful and tiny you are. I feel incredibly blessed. We are all bursting with happiness at your arrival. I’m not sure I’ve slept for even a minute since you were born—because I can’t stop looking at you.”

Carrie also playfully noted in her post that Poppy is “the final member of our gang.” Boris and Carrie Johnson already have three children: Wilfred, Romy, and Frank. Wilfred was born in April 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic when Boris Johnson was serving as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Romy was born in December 2021.

“Wilfred, Romy, and Frank are all thrilled—especially Romy, who really wanted a baby sister. Now it’s time for matching outfits. The final member of our gang,” Carrie added. She continued, “We’ve just come home from the hospital. It’s cocktails and pizza time with a sleeping baby in my arms. What more could anyone ask for in life?”

In addition to his four children with Carrie Johnson, Boris Johnson has four children—Lara Lettice, Milo Arthur, Cassia Peaches, and Theodore Apollo—with his former wife Marina Wheeler. He also has a daughter named Stephanie with Helen Macintyre. With Poppy’s birth, Boris Johnson is now a father of nine.
