Producer Nagavamsi Responds to Pawan Kalyan’s Statement
The comments made by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan regarding the Telugu film industry have sparked intense controversy. Pawan Kalyan emphasized the need to accord industry status to the Telugu cinema sector in Andhra Pradesh and to promote its development. He stated that while efforts were being made to safeguard the dignity and honor of those associated with the film industry, there appeared to be a lack of basic respect and gratitude towards the Andhra Pradesh government from the film fraternity.
He further remarked that even after nearly a year since the coalition government came to power in Andhra Pradesh, key members of the Telugu film industry had not made even a courtesy visit to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Pawan Kalyan criticized the film fraternity for engaging with the government only during the release of their films, and alleged that no one seemed genuinely interested in the development of the industry.
In response to this ongoing debate, prominent producer Bunny Vas had already expressed his views. Now, another well-known producer, Suryadevara Nagavamsi, has reacted via the platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). Although he did not directly mention Pawan Kalyan or the issue of theatre closures, his comments were widely seen as sharp and pointed.
“They have created unnecessary problems at a time when focus should have been on essential matters. Now, those problems have only grown bigger. If wisdom had taken the lead, these issues could have been easily resolved,” Suryadevara Nagavamsi posted on X.
This post has since gone viral on social media, with many interpreting it as an indirect counter to senior members of the film industry.
