No Change in Provident Fund Rate: 8.25% Continues for EPF Subscribers
The central government has delivered good news to Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) subscribers by officially announcing that the interest rate on EPF deposits for the financial year 2024–25 will remain at 8.25 percent, the same as the previous year. This announcement follows the approval of the recommendation made earlier by the Central Board of Trustees of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).
During the financial year 2023–24, EPFO had also provided an interest rate of 8.25 percent to its subscribers. The decision to retain the same rate for the current fiscal year is expected to benefit approximately 70 million EPF members. Following the government's official notification, EPFO is now preparing to credit the interest amount into subscribers' accounts shortly.
To help subscribers check whether the interest has been credited and to view other account details, several options are available:
Through the UMANG App: Subscribers can log in using their registered mobile number. By navigating to the EPFO services section and entering their Universal Account Number (UAN) and OTP, users can access their account balance and passbook information.
Via the EPFO Portal: By visiting www.epfindia.gov.in and logging in with their UAN and password, users can choose the ‘Member Passbook’ option to view their account details.
By Missed Call: Subscribers can give a missed call to 99660 44425 from their mobile number linked to the EPF account. The call will disconnect automatically, and an SMS with balance details will be sent shortly afterward.
Through SMS: By sending a message in the format “EPFOHO UAN TEL” (to receive details in Telugu, use “TEL”) from the mobile number linked to the UAN to 77382 99899, subscribers can also obtain their EPF balance information.
