Corona Stirs Alarm Again in Visakhapatnam: Young Woman Tests Positive
A new case of the coronavirus has been reported in Visakhapatnam, with a 23-year-old woman from the Maddilapalem area testing positive, according to health authorities. The woman had been admitted to a private corporate hospital in the city four days ago with a fever. Suspecting a possible infection, doctors conducted diagnostic tests for COVID-19, which confirmed that she was positive.

To further verify the results, her sample was sent to the virology lab at King George Hospital (KGH) in Visakhapatnam. The lab confirmed the initial diagnosis, reaffirming that she had tested positive for COVID-19.

State Commissioner for Health and Family Welfare Veerapandian confirmed the case, stating that the young woman’s condition remained stable and that she was discharged from the hospital on Thursday evening. He added that her family members informed officials that she had not travelled anywhere recently.

Nonetheless, as a precautionary measure, Veerapandian said necessary instructions have been issued to district officials to ensure all preventive arrangements are in place.

In light of this development, the Department of Medical and Health has issued guidelines urging the public to strictly follow preventive measures to curb the spread of the virus:

Anyone experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, cold, or sore throat should immediately self-isolate at home.

Medications should only be taken as per doctors’ advice and prescriptions.

Masks must be worn in public gatherings and during travel.

Individuals arriving from areas with high COVID-19 caseloads, or showing any suspicious symptoms, should promptly undergo testing.

Frequent handwashing with soap or use of hand sanitizers is strongly advised.
