Kailash Manasarovar Pilgrims Stranded Midway

A group of Kailash Manasarovar pilgrims has become stranded en route due to a landslide. Officials reported that the road was blocked after large sections of rock broke away and fell onto the pilgrimage route, making it impossible for the group to proceed. Approximately 180 pilgrims are said to be caught in the affected area.

However, authorities confirmed that none of the pilgrims have sustained any injuries as a result of the incident. Personnel from the Border Roads Organisation have responded to the situation and are working to clear the road. They are currently removing the debris and rock fragments that have obstructed the route.

The incident occurred in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand state. The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra had been suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although pandemic-related restrictions have since eased, the journey was not resumed earlier due to strained India-China relations following the Galwan Valley clashes. As a result of recent diplomatic discussions between the two countries, the pilgrimage was restarted this year after a five-year hiatus.
