Poojitha Says Arrogance Cost Her Roles, But It’s Her True Nature
Actress Poojitha, who once worked consistently as a lead heroine and later transitioned into a busy career as a character artist, has acted in 136 films across various languages. In a recent interview with 'Suman TV', she spoke candidly about her journey and the challenges she faced in the film industry.
“I have loved acting since my college days, which is why I entered films,” said Poojitha. “Even though my father was not in favor of it, he had to eventually agree.”
Poojitha shared that she came to the Hyderabad film industry during the same period when the industry itself relocated to the city. “Until then, I had been acting as a heroine in other language films, but after arriving here, I had to take up character roles in Telugu films,” she said.
Referring to how people often perceive her, Poojitha said, “People say that I’m arrogant. They also claim that I make my presence known shortly after making an entry. But I consider it self-respect. If something goes wrong, I don’t spare anyone. If arrogance made me lose anything, I would say I lost opportunities because of it. What can I do? That’s just how I am.”
Recalling an incident with Suresh Productions, she stated, “I once got a call from Suresh Productions about a role. When I went there, they had selected me along with a few others. But instead of me, they gave the dialogue to a newly introduced artist. I felt deeply insulted and left the set without saying a word. The next day, the office called me, and I told them clearly that I would no longer work with that banner. And I haven’t since then. I cannot tolerate the humiliation of the artist within me,” she said.
