Seshachalam encounter: Collector orders magisterial probe

Hyderabad, April 7: Chittoor district Collector Siddharth Jain today orders a magisterial investigation in connection with the death of 20 persons who were encountered in Seshachalam forest area. The collector appointed district revenue official Vijay Chander to investigate the incident. It may be recalled that police gunned down at least 20 red sanders smugglers on Tuesday in the Seshachalam forest area of Chittor district of Andhra Pradesh. The police are reported to have opened fire as soon as they came under attack by the smugglers at two locations in the forest close to Chandragiri mandal in Chittoor district.
