Kadapa Mahanadu Will Be Remembered in History: Chandrababu
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has stated that the upcoming Mahanadu in Kadapa will be remembered in history. On Wednesday, Chandrababu Naidu chaired a preparatory meeting at the TDP central office with members of the Mahanadu organising committee and senior party leaders. He noted that the Mahanadu, scheduled for May 27, 28, and 29, is the first of its kind since the alliance government came to power. Although the Mahanadu had previously been held in Rayalaseema locations such as Tirupati, this marks the first time it will be hosted in Kadapa.
Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that despite facing numerous challenges and crises, the TDP regained power in 2024 and has delivered better governance in just one year than initially envisioned. He called for comprehensive discussions during the Mahanadu on party affairs, government decisions, welfare schemes, development initiatives, and future strategies.
Chandrababu Naidu stated that the TDP has significantly reshaped the landscape of Rayalaseema. He claimed that the party enjoys strong support among the people of the region due to the transformative changes brought about after the party’s formation. Highlighting the party’s role in eradicating factional violence in Rayalaseema, he said that the TDP took strict measures to eliminate the influence of factionism from the area. These historic efforts, he noted, have been etched in the hearts of the people.
He recalled that it was Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) who first envisioned changing the region’s conditions by providing irrigation water. Projects such as Handri-Neeva, Galeru-Nagari, Telugu Ganga, and the Muchumarri Lift Scheme were all initiated during TDP’s tenure. He credited the party with giving priority to drought-prone Anantapur district by providing both drinking and irrigation water. Through drip irrigation, he said, the TDP offered a solution to drought, and questioned whether any part of Rayalaseema today remains untouched by drip systems.
Chandrababu Naidu said that after 2014, over ₹12,000 crore was invested in irrigation projects in Rayalaseema, yielding substantial results. He highlighted simultaneous efforts to make the drought-stricken region fertile while also promoting industrialization. Initiatives such as the industrial hub in Kopparthy (Kadapa district), BPCL in Ramayapatnam (Nellore district), Orvakal hub in Kurnool, and industrial growth in Anantapur through Kia Motors, wind, and solar energy were mentioned as examples of accelerated regional development. He further noted that the development of Tirumala and Tirupati occurred during the TDP government and that the airports in Kadapa and Kurnool were also built under the party’s rule.
Chandrababu Naidu remarked that the TDP cadre is working with enthusiasm and expressed confidence that the upcoming Mahanadu would bring renewed energy to Rayalaseema. He stated that the party is fostering growth in horticulture, industries, and dairy sectors in the region. He projected that the transformation brought by horticulture would enable Rayalaseema’s farmers to surpass those from Konaseema and predicted that these results would be visible in the next four years. He urged party leaders to actively discuss these topics with the public.
The Chief Minister directed that adequate arrangements be made for accommodation and transportation for all Mahanadu attendees. He emphasized that the event should include in-depth discussions on the party’s principles, its achievements over four decades, and the current government’s successes. He outlined that the first day should focus on party-related matters, the second day on government development and welfare initiatives, and the third day should culminate in a massive public meeting attended by lakhs, ensuring that no inconvenience is caused to attendees.
He also stressed that resolutions adopted during the Mahanadu should increase public awareness about the alliance government’s development and welfare programmes. Chandrababu Naidu instructed party leaders to conduct mini Mahanadus at the constituency level on May 18, 19, and 20, and at the parliamentary constituency level on May 22 and 23.
