Pawan Kalyan Orders Legal Action Against Peddi Reddy Over Forest Land Grabs
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Forest and Environment, Pawan Kalyan, has directed officials to take stringent action against former minister Peddi Reddy Ramachandra Reddy and his family over allegations of encroaching forest lands in Chittoor district. He instructed that criminal cases be filed against those responsible, in addition to invoking provisions under forest protection laws.
Allegations have surfaced that Peddi Reddy Ramachandra Reddy and his family illegally occupied forest lands as well as government lands and properties belonging to the Bugga Math in the Chittoor district. Following these serious accusations, the Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement conducted a detailed investigation and submitted a comprehensive report to Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
According to sources, the report recommended filing criminal charges against those involved in the land encroachments. It also suggested identifying government officials who failed to prevent these illegal occupations and holding them accountable.
After thoroughly reviewing the report, Pawan Kalyan held a special meeting with senior officials from the Forest Department. During the meeting, he issued orders to immediately initiate departmental action against the officials who were negligent in protecting forest lands. He also emphasized strict measures against those officials who allegedly violated norms and facilitated the encroachments by the Peddi Reddy family.
Pawan Kalyan directed forest officials to expedite further actions in line with the recommendations made by the Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement. Reiterating the government’s commitment to land protection, he stated that no encroachments would be tolerated under any circumstances and reaffirmed the importance of safeguarding public lands.
