Musk Retains Top Spot as Zuckerberg Surpasses Bezos

Significant changes have occurred in the global rankings of the world’s wealthiest individuals. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has overtaken Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to become the second-richest person in the world, according to the latest data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Tesla chief Elon Musk has firmly retained his position at the top.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Mark Zuckerberg’s net worth has reached $212 billion, surpassing Jeff Bezos, whose net worth has dropped to $209 billion. During trading on May 5, Zuckerberg’s wealth increased by $846 million, while Bezos experienced a loss of $2.90 billion. A major factor behind this shift is the over 16% surge in Meta’s share value over the past month, compared to only a 6.33% rise in Amazon’s shares during the same period. So far this year, Zuckerberg’s wealth has increased by $4.63 billion.

Meta’s strong financial results have also contributed to the growth in Zuckerberg’s wealth. In the first quarter, reported on May 1, Meta posted revenues of $42.31 billion, exceeding analysts’ expectations of $41.39 billion. For the second quarter, the company has projected revenue between $42.5 billion and $45.5 billion.

Meanwhile, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk continues to hold the title of the world’s richest individual with a net worth of $331 billion. On April 23, Musk’s net worth increased by $7.5 billion. He reiterated that he would reduce the time allocated to government affairs and instead focus more intensely on Tesla operations, which led to a 5% rise in Tesla’s stock.
