Kamareddy Tragedy: Electric Shock from Cooler Kills Mother and Child
A tragic incident occurred on Saturday night in Gulla Tanda of Jukkal mandal, Kamareddy district, where a mother and daughter lost their lives due to an electric shock caused by a cooler. According to police and local residents, the incident took place when a cooler, installed to provide relief from the night heat, became electrically charged due to a short circuit. The younger daughter, who was sleeping near the cooler, accidentally touched it in her sleep and suffered a fatal electric shock. Her mother, lying beside her, was also electrocuted while attempting to respond, resulting in both dying on the spot.

The victims were identified as Shankabai and her younger daughter Srivani, residents of Gulla Tanda. Shankabai was the wife of Prahlad, and the couple had one son and two daughters. While their elder daughter is residing in Hyderabad, Shankabai remained at home in the village with the younger children. On Friday night, after Prahlad left for Hyderabad, Shankabai and her children had dinner and went to sleep. The cooler was turned on to combat the heat.

During the night, Srivani moved in her sleep and her leg came into contact with the cooler, which was live with electricity due to the short circuit. Shankabai, sleeping beside her, was also electrocuted. Their son, who was sleeping a short distance away, awoke in the morning to find both his mother and sister lifeless. He immediately informed the neighbors, who rushed to the house but found both already deceased.

Following information from the villagers, police from Jukkal arrived at the scene and registered a case. The bodies were shifted to Madnoor Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. Locals stated that the cooler involved was made of iron and locally manufactured, which they believe contributed to the intensity of the electric shock.
