Centre Issues Key Advisory to Media Channels
In the backdrop of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, national and regional media outlets have been extensively covering “Operation Sindoor.” In light of this, the central government has issued a key advisory to media channels, cautioning against the use of sirens in news broadcasts.
According to the advisory, sirens are to be used solely during mock drills conducted for public awareness purposes. The advisory was issued by the Directorate General of Fire Services, Civil Defence, and Home Guards under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
"Frequent use of these sounds can create confusion among the public. As a result, there is a risk that, in actual emergencies, citizens might take such alerts lightly," stated the government.
