Vallabhaneni Vamsi Falls Ill in Jail, Shifted Back to Vijayawada Prison After Treatment

Vallabhaneni Vamsi, a YSR Congress Party leader currently on remand in Vijayawada Jail in connection with multiple cases, experienced mild illness on Saturday. Prison officials immediately transferred him to Vijayawada Government Hospital, where doctors conducted medical examinations. As his condition was confirmed to be stable, he was returned to prison after receiving treatment.

On Saturday afternoon, Vallabhaneni Vamsi reportedly informed the jail staff that he was suffering from swelling in his legs and difficulty breathing. Alerted by this, the authorities first conducted preliminary medical examinations within the prison premises. Subsequently, arrangements were made to shift him to Vijayawada Government Hospital for better medical care.

Three-Hour Medical Examination
As Vamsi was taken to the hospital without prior notice, the hospital administration had to recall several doctors who had already completed their shifts. In the meantime, Vamsi was provided with emergency primary care. He was admitted to the cardiology section of the hospital’s super-specialty block, where specialists in cardiology, pulmonology, and general medicine performed several key diagnostic tests. These included a 2D Echo, chest X-ray, and ECG. Vamsi was brought to the hospital around 4:15 PM, and the testing process continued under medical supervision until 7:15 PM.

BP Medication Change Cited as Likely Cause
Doctors initially assessed that the complications might have been triggered by a change in Vamsi’s blood pressure medication approximately three weeks ago, which caused fluctuations in blood pressure. Additionally, his existing asthma condition likely contributed to his breathing difficulty. The leg swelling could also be related to these fluctuations, doctors suggested. As no severe health complications were found, officials transferred Vamsi back to Vijayawada Jail by 8 PM. Doctors recommended that thyroid-related tests be conducted soon and advised bringing him back to the hospital before breakfast for further evaluation. It was also reported that about a month ago, following similar health complaints, prison officials had arranged a medical examination for Vamsi by government hospital doctors.

Olupalli Ranga Discharged
Olupalli Mohana Ranga, a close aide of Vallabhaneni Vamsi, was discharged from Vijayawada Government Hospital on Saturday after recovering from health issues. He was also returned to jail following his discharge. Ranga is currently on remand in Vijayawada Jail in connection with cases such as the attack on the Telugu Desam Party office and the kidnapping of Satyavardhan. He had been shifted to the hospital for treatment on May 1 following health complications.
