Parents Drag, Beat Son and Girlfriend in Public Over Love Affair in Kanpur

A shocking incident occurred in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where parents who disapproved of their son's romantic relationship publicly assaulted him and his girlfriend in broad daylight.

According to the police, the incident took place on Friday at Ramgopal Crossing under the jurisdiction of Gujaini Police Station in Kanpur. A 21-year-old youth named Rohit was eating chowmein (noodles) with his 19-year-old female friend when the situation escalated. Rohit’s parents, Shivkaran and Susheela, who were unhappy with their son’s romantic involvement, arrived at the scene and suddenly launched an attack on the young couple.

In the widely circulated video footage, Susheela is seen physically assaulting the couple. When the two attempted to flee on a two-wheeler, Susheela was captured on video pulling the young woman by her hair. Bystanders and local residents tried to intervene and separate the parties involved. Meanwhile, Rohit’s father Shivkaran was seen hitting his son with a slipper.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the location promptly. Both parties were taken to the police station where they were given counselling. After the session, they were released. The police stated that counselling was provided to both sides and that legal proceedings were underway.

The video of the assault, which took place in full public view, has since gone viral on social media.
