Chiranjeevi Shares Behind-the-Scenes Moment on Iconic Song
Megastar Chiranjeevi and legendary director K. Raghavendra Rao’s iconic film Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, is set for a re-release on May 9th to mark its 35th anniversary.
On this occasion, Chiranjeevi shared an interesting anecdote about the popular song Abbanee Tiiyyani Debba. He remarked that the song still feels immensely appealing to audiences even today. Chiranjeevi said that many would be surprised to know that the song’s recording was completed in just one day.
He elaborated that it wasn’t even a full day. "At 9 a.m., composer Ilaiyaraaja was seated at the recording hall, and while we were shooting on an adjacent set between 11 a.m. and 12 noon, he sent over a tune—not the complete song—just to listen to," said Chiranjeevi. Upon hearing the tune, he said that both K. Raghavendra Rao and Dattanna (likely referring to producer C. Ashwini Dutt), as well as he himself, were instantly impressed.
“The song was excellent… It had simplicity and a wonderful rhythm. The rhythm also felt refreshingly new,” Chiranjeevi noted.
He further shared that during the lunch break, lyricist Veturi sat down with them and penned the lyrics—starting with the line “Ammani Kammani Debba”—which they all found extremely sweet and catchy. Later, legendary singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam recorded the song, completing its production.
