Prime Minister Narendra Modi has suggested renaming the former Parliament building 'Samvidhan Sadan' following the move of both Houses to their new facility. During a special function in Central Hall to mark 75 years of Parliament, he emphasized the importance of preserving the historical significance of the old building. Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Modi said, "As we transition to the new Parliament, we must not forget the dignity and history of the old building. It should not simply be known as the old Parliament building. Therefore, I propose that, if you agree, it should be called 'Samvidhan Sadan'." During his 40-minute address, the Prime Minister also pointed out the building's historical significance, saying, "In 1947, it was in this very place that the British handed over power. Our Central Hall witnessed that historic moment."
