New Parliament Building Introduces Automatic Microphone System

In the new Parliament building, where sessions kick off today, all microphones will operate using an automatic system. This system will turn off the microphone when the speaker's allocated time for speaking is up. The introduction of this automatic microphone system is significant because it comes after repeated accusations by opposition leaders that microphones were not provided in the House. In previous meetings, the opposition had called for an investigation into the Hindenburg report on financial irregularities related to the Adani Group. They alleged that the government was silencing them by cutting off the microphones to prevent their voices from being heard. Former Congress President Rahul also criticized the malfunctioning microphones in the Parliament when opposition leaders attempted to speak. Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, claimed that the government disrespected him by not providing a microphone.
