AP CID Additional DG N Sanjay Press Meet on Chandrababu Arrest - Live
Vijayawada: TDP chief Chandrababu's arrest has ignited a political firestorm in Andhra Pradesh. Currently, he is en route from Nandyala to Vijayawada by road, traveling in a convoy of vehicles. Simultaneously, AP CID Additional DG Sanjay addressed a press conference regarding this arrest, shedding light on the circumstances.
Sanjay stated that Chandrababu was taken into custody at the RK function hall in Nandyala at 6 a.m. He asserted that the former Chief Minister is the primary accused in the skill development scam, which has resulted in a government loss of Rs. 371 crores. According to Sanjay, this money was funneled into shell companies through fraudulent means, and agreements were executed only at Chandrababu's behest. Witnesses have identified Chandrababu as the mastermind behind the operation.
Sanjay explained that Chandrababu's arrest was deemed necessary to prevent tampering with evidence. He emphasized that Nara Lokesh, too, should be subject to questioning in connection with the case. The Skill Development Corporation, formed to generate funds, was allegedly established without cabinet approval, with Ganta Subbarao appointed as its MD and CEO. Sanjay noted that four positions were linked to him. The ED and GST authorities have also conducted investigations into the matter, revealing the transfer of funds based on fake invoices.
CID Additional DG Sanjay reiterated that Chandrababu's arrest was the result of a comprehensive legal process and asserted that it was essential for the complete truth to emerge. He further disclosed that other suspects in the case are located in Dubai and the United States, and officials will pursue international cooperation to bring them back for questioning.
