Under construction railway bridge collapses in Mizoram, 17 workers killed

Mizoram: A devastating incident unfolded near Sairang in Mizoram as an under-construction railway bridge gave way, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 17 workers, authorities reported. Railway and police officials have confirmed the recovery of 17 bodies up to this point. The accident occurred during the morning hours on Wednesday, with an estimated 40 workers present at the accident site. Concerns mount as several others are feared to be trapped beneath the wreckage. The railway bridge, which was being built over the Kurung River to connect Bairabi and Sairang, suffered the collapse. The accident site is located approximately 21 kilometers from Aizawl.
