Scissors left inside woman after caesarean in Eluru

Eluru: A disturbing incident occurred at Eluru Government Hospital involving a pregnant woman who had recently given birth via caesarean section. The woman had been admitted to the hospital for delivery a week prior. During the caesarean section, which was conducted by a senior civil surgeon, the baby was successfully delivered. However, an oversight occurred during the stitching process following the procedure: a pair of scissors was inadvertently left inside the woman's abdomen. As a result of this oversight, the woman began experiencing abdominal pain. Subsequent to her return to the hospital seeking assistance, X-ray scans were conducted, revealing the presence of the scissors within her abdomen. The gravity of the situation came to light when an employee of the hospital shared a photo of the X-ray on their Facebook and Twitter accounts. Following this online disclosure, hospital officials promptly contacted the employee and reprimanded them, leading to the removal of those posts. Additionally, concerns have been raised regarding the potential manipulation of the victim's case sheet, address, and phone number in the hospital records. Significantly, the X-ray images taken within the hospital's premises clearly depict the victim's name and the date of the incident, showcasing the scissors left inside her body. The hospital's superintendent, who was on vacation during this period, expressed unawareness of the incident involving the forgotten scissors.
