Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury Seeks Bungalow For Rahul Gandhi, After Being Reinstated As Wayanad MP
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's membership in the Indian Parliament has been given back to him. This comes after the Supreme Court stopped his conviction in a criminal case from 2019 that had to do with defamation.
The Lok Sabha secretariat sent out a notice that said Rahul Gandhi's disqualification as a Member of Parliament (MP) was taken back.
Before this, Rahul Gandhi lost his place as an MP on March 23 because a court in Gujarat found him guilty in a defamation case. This had to do with something he said about the 'Modi surname,' and the court gave him two years in jail. If a lawmaker gets a punishment of two years or more, they lose their place.
After getting his place back as an MP, Rahul Gandhi has asked for a house to live in, according to the housing committee. A senior leader from his party, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, has also asked for a bungalow for him.
