Rahul Gandhi visits Azadpur Mandi amid rising vegetable prices

New Delhi: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi paid a visit to Azadpur Mandi, one of Asia's largest vegetable wholesale markets, in response to the alarming surge in vegetable prices. Arriving at the market in north Delhi around 4 a.m., he engaged in interactions with the vegetable sellers to understand the challenges they are facing. This visit comes at a time when vegetable prices are skyrocketing, with some varieties selling at over Rs 100 per kilogram and tomatoes reaching a staggering price of over Rs 200 per kg in certain areas of the national capital. Rahul's concern for various issues has been evident in his recent engagements. From sowing paddy samplings in Haryana to understanding the struggles of truck drivers during a truck ride from Murthal to Ambala, he has actively participated in diverse experiences to connect with people on the ground. Earlier, he visited Kerala for treatment of his childhood knee injury and met gig workers in Bengaluru while driving on a scooty with a delivery partner. In another instance, he had lunch with students at Delhi University's PG Men's hostel and interacted with UPSC aspirants in Mukherjee Nagar.
