NRIs Storm US Grocery Stores in Viral Video After India's Export Ban

In response to the Centre's ban on non-basmati white rice exports, N.R.I's (Non-Resident Indians) living in America and Canada are expressing their frustration. Many have been spotted lining up outside rice stores in search of the essential grain. The ban, which was implemented on July 20, triggered a surge in demand for rice among Indian communities abroad. At some Indian stores, small conflicts have even broken out as people vie for the limited rice supplies available. In other places, signs reading "No Stock" are a common sight, indicating the scarcity of rice. The Indian government defended the export ban by stating that it was necessary to maintain a sufficient supply of non-basmati white rice within the domestic market and control the rising prices. Thousands of N.R.I's have responded to the ban by flocking to grocery stores in their respective countries, eager to stock up on rice supplies before they run out. The sudden surge in demand has caught many retailers off guard, leaving some struggling to keep up with the unprecedented buying spree.
