This means they will not face any competition in the upcoming elections. The ruling BJP will also gain one seat from this election, which will increase its count to 93 members in the Rajya Sabha. This boost comes at a crucial time when the government does not have a majority in the upper house. The elections for six seats in West Bengal, three seats in Gujarat, and one seat in Goa, which were scheduled for July 24, will not have any voting as there are no opposing candidates for these seats. This uncontested election makes way for a smooth selection of the candidates.
