Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's significant speech at the U.S. Congress garnered widespread acclaim, marked by 15 standing ovations and a total of 79 applause interruptions. Interestingly, among those acknowledging Modi's address was U.S. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, who has previously been noted for her criticism of India. Ahead of PM Modi's U.S. visit, Jayapal, in conjunction with Senator Hollen, had penned a bicameral letter to President Biden, urging him to engage with PM Modi on contentious topics. They implored Biden to discuss matters concerning human rights, limitations on press freedom, and internet access in India.
